How do I get from Totnes train station to Coombe?

Coombe is approximately 20 minutes from Totnes and there are taxis at the train station which charge £18-£20 each way. However, if you let us know your train times in advance, we can often arrange for someone to collect you from the station for a smaller charge of £5 each way – just let us know when you’ve booked your train if you’d like us to pick you up and drop you back to Totnes at the end of the course.

How do I pay?

The deposit is £100, you pay either via PayPal if booking online, by cheque if booking by post (download the brochure which includes a booking form) or by card if booking by phone 01803 722 352.

You then pay the balance of the course fees three weeks prior to the start of the course either by cheque in the post, by direct bank transfer (BACS), or card over the phone on 01803 722352. See our Payment page for further details.

I can only eat certain things will this be a problem?

No problem, please let us know when you make your booking and we will cater for your needs – our chef is used to dealing with lots of different requirements. We grow our own vegetables and keep hens for fresh eggs daily. For a flavour of our food have a look at the Blog “from the kitchen”.

What equipment will I need to bring?

A materials list accompanies each course. If you can’t get hold of some items you can often borrow them from the studio. If you’re attending a painting course drawing boards, watercolour pans, jars for water etc are available to borrow. Saunders Watercolour paper is available on request and is priced per sheet. We also have a quality art shop in Totnes so you run out of any essential we can do a shop run for you.

What type of accomodation do you have?

We have single and double rooms, there is no single supplement to pay. We don’t have en-suite facilities so bathrooms are shared. They are on the same level as the bedrooms – see accommodation page for more details.

Will I be out of my depth?

Many of our students are complete beginners, so don’t feel daunted. The courses are tailored to suit  the requirements of the participants. You will notice that on the timetable some course are marked  with an asterisk, this means that they are structured for returning and advanced students to progress to an ” in depth” study and criticism.

Would my non-painting friend be welcome?

Yes absolutely, there is a reduced rate for non-participants please see the individual view courses page for more prices.
