APPRENTICE STUDIO MANAGER

An apprentice typically works in the studios for 6 months, with the last three weeks of the programme focusing on training the next apprentice.

As an Apprentice Studio Manager, the work you will undertake includes:

- Cleaning and tidying studios (painting studio, printmaking & pottery workshops) including hoovering, mopping & cleaning surfaces.

- Managing stock lists

- Wrapping/packaging pots and arranging courier collection/delivery

- Setting up and putting away equipment (easels, tables etc)

- Maintaining equipment including booking external contractors where necessary

- Organising equipment

COMMITMENT

Fridays 12noon-5pm, for six months.

EXCHANGE

The apprentice doesn’t receive a salary but does receive the following exchange:

Print or Pottery membership – value £130 p/m = £780 - membership gives you access to the pottery or print workshop to make and develop your own work untutored outside class times.

1 x non-resident course place on one of our immersive courses = £676

We appreciate that the lack of salary is a barrier to becoming an apprentice for anyone that understandably cannot afford the time. We are therefore applying for funding to provide financial assistance for those in that situation. When successful we will post that information here.

LOCATION

This post is located at Coombe Farm Studios, we are a remote rural location with no public transport therefore you will need to have access to a car and driving licence or have someone that can offer you transport.

APPLICATION

This is a rolling application process. To apply fill out the form below and we will then arrange an interview and see if we can allocate a slot for you based on your experience, interested and availability.

I took the opportunity to volunteer at Coombe Farm Studios these past few months because I saw it as just that - an opportunity, to spend my limited time in an environment that would be welcoming, nurturing and inspiring! Coombe is all of these and more. During my time there, with Lara, between the pottery and print hub, and among the gardens, I made significant steps back into my own art practice after four full years at home, with my young children. Not so long ago this felt like a very imposing mountain to have to climb. However, thanks in part to my time very well spent with Lara, the resident artists, the students and the most beautiful surroundings, this is no longer the case. Thank you Coombe for gently welcoming, nurturing and inspiring me, and of course for making me laugh.”
