Pottery for Beginners - Weekend Course with Verran Townsend - SOLD OUT

  • Coombe Farm Studios (map)

This beginners pottery course has been designed for anyone that is interested in working in clay for the first time. During the weekend you will have a chance to explore different clays, make small hand-built pieces and throw on the wheel, building up your skills and confidence. The course tutor, Verran Townsend teaches the regular community pottery classes at Coombe and began his teaching mentored and inspired by master potter Richenda MacGregor.

I love dreaming up ideas, thinking about design and how those ideas could be turned into things. The making too of course, experimenting and learning, handbuilding and throwing, and the excitement of seeing how each piece turns out as it emerges pinging from the kiln. I enjoy taking my creations out into the countryside too, letting them find their place and sharing the results on Instagram. But most of all I love helping others to follow their imagination and to develop their practice. Magical things happen when people lose themselves in clay, and it’s a joy to be present when they do.
— Verran Townsend
