Painting - 5 day course with Bettina Schroeder

  • Coombe Farm Studios (map)

Bettina has been teaching at Coombe for many years as well as courses she runs herself in Scotland and abroad. Her relaxed courses are suitable for all, from absolute beginners to accomplished painters. They are designed to help you to make the most of your abilities and to find a personal approach and her tuition will be mainly in watercolour, which enables you to experiment and work freely but other media are also welcome.

Daily watercolour demonstrations (in the studio or on location) are tailored to what you want to capture or express in your work. The tuition will also deal with general painting problems such as basic perspective, choice of colour, composition, shadows and many other tricks of the trade with particular attention given to wet-in-wet technique. For beginners, Bettina teaches a simple, easy to follow ‘step by step’ approach, so you can visibly advance within the course duration irrespective of your ability. Above all, Bettina’s courses aim to enhance the pleasure of painting whilst gaining and/or improving your skills.Tuition is typically arranged in day sessions lasting from 10am until 4pm, so there is time for you to relax before dinner with a good book, great company and optional trips to the pub.Timings may change slightly from day to day depending on the weather and excursions. If you are keen paint in the early morning, late afternoon or into the night, as with all courses at Coombe, you are welcome to use the studio, gardens and courtyard at any time during the course.
